يخطّط الأسئلة الفرعية، ويقرأ المصادر، ويحفظ نقطة تفتيش بعد كل جولة بحيث يستطيع تشغيل طويل أن يستأنف بدلاً من البدء من جديد. والناتج تقرير موثّق يربط كل ادعاء بمصدره، وتُوسَم الاختلافات بين المصادر بدلاً من تمويهها.
