Web Application Development
Your team uses three tools and a spreadsheet to do what one system should handle. We build that one system.
Every business needs software that doesn't exist yet
These are the most common custom builds we deliver. Yours might be something entirely different.
How we choose the right stack for your project
We do not have a default framework. Here is how we make technology decisions for a real client project.
What language should the backend use?
Why
The client's in-house team knows JavaScript. Using TypeScript means they can maintain the code after handoff without learning a new language. Shared types between frontend and backend reduce bugs.
Alternatives Considered
We considered Go for performance and Python for data work. Both are good options, but developer handoff mattered more than raw speed for this project.
How should we handle the database?
Why
Relational data with complex queries. PostgreSQL handles both well and is free. Prisma gives us type-safe queries and automatic migrations, which means fewer database bugs in production.
Alternatives Considered
MongoDB was an option for its flexibility, but the data model was clearly relational. We would have spent more time working around document limitations than we saved in schema flexibility.
Where should we host this?
Why
Fast deployments, automatic previews for pull requests, and zero DevOps overhead. The client does not have a dedicated ops team, so managed hosting saves them from hiring one.
Alternatives Considered
AWS gives more control but requires DevOps expertise. For this team size and traffic level, managed platforms are the pragmatic choice.
Build from scratch or use a framework?
Why
Next.js gives us server-side rendering for SEO, API routes for the backend, and a huge ecosystem. The custom component library means the UI matches the brand exactly without fighting a pre-built design system.
Alternatives Considered
Remix and SvelteKit are strong alternatives. We chose Next.js because the client's team had existing React experience, which makes long-term maintenance realistic.
Three ways to work with us
Pick the model that fits your project size and team. All include source code ownership and full documentation.
Sprint
A focused 6-week build for one specific problem. Best for teams that need a working tool fast.
- Single feature scope (MVP)
- 2-person team (developer + designer)
- Weekly demos and feedback sessions
- Full source code handoff at the end
- 30 days of post-launch bug fixes
Partnership
Ongoing development for products that need to grow. Most teams choose this after the first Sprint.
- Multi-feature roadmap planning
- 3-4 person team with a project lead
- Bi-weekly sprint reviews with your stakeholders
- Priority support and bug fixes
- Quarterly architecture reviews
Dedicated Team
A full team embedded in your company. For complex products that need ongoing development.
- 5-8 person team (full stack + QA + lead)
- Integrated with your internal processes
- Dedicated project manager and tech lead
- 24/7 production support
- Monthly strategic reviews with leadership
All models include full source code ownership, documented handoff, and no long-term lock-in. Cancel or change models with 30 days notice.

Honest Answers
Questions we hear every week
These come from real discovery calls. No softballs.
Up front, yes. Over three years, usually not. A SaaS tool at $50/seat with 100 users costs $180K over three years. Custom software typically costs $80-150K to build and $15K/year to maintain. Run the numbers for your situation.
Fixed-price phases with clear deliverables. We build the MVP first, prove value, then you decide whether to invest in the next phase. Every feature is scoped and priced before we start it. No surprises.
That happens in every project. Our sprint model is built for it. We re-prioritize features every two weeks. If something new is more important, it moves to the top. Nothing is set in stone until it ships.
You do. All of it. Source code, documentation, infrastructure configuration. You can take it to any developer or agency. We do not hold code hostage.
Yes. We write clean code with full documentation. We use standard frameworks your team already knows. We also run a handoff session with your developers to walk through the architecture. If you want ongoing support, we offer retainer packages.
OWASP guidelines baked into every project. Encrypted data at rest and in transit. Role-based access control. We support SOC 2 and GDPR compliance out of the box, and can add HIPAA or PCI-DSS if your industry requires it.
